We are moving to Virginia from Georgia and was wondering if anyone can provide information regarding areas and schools. We have a last year middle schooler going into high school and would like feedback regarding schools. Looking at Ashburn and Leesburg, and possibly Prince William County, however I am really open to feedback from other areas.

People will probably be able to help you better if tell us more.
What is your housing budget? Are you looking for a single family home? Townhome? Apartment?
Where will you/your spouse be working and how much of a commute can you tolerate?

Loudoun County high schools (Leesburg/Ashburn) are great. If you want the cream of the crop, then I recommend Stone Bridge in Ashburn.

I second this recommendation. Briar Woods is also very good as is Broad Run. The only high school in Loudoun I wouldn't want my kid in is Park View.

You pretty much can't go wrong with Loudoun schools, although, if you have an average student/ average athlete, etc, they may get steamrolled. The athletic teams at the high school level are super competitive (and I've heard many stories about kids from outside the districts having their parents rent rooms within the various school districts so the kids can play sports). It is pretty sad, actually.

Ditto this.

In Prince William, I'd avoid Freedom HS and maybe Gar-Field and Potomac.

In Fairfax, nothing, really; the ES feeders to avoid draw from the places you'd want to avoid anyway, and by the time kids get to HS, even schools like Mount Vernon, Falls Church, and Stuart will have a large enough core of higher-achieving students.

The Loudoun high schools are all typically 1200-1600 students whereas Prince William and Fairfax are larger -- this may mitigate any 'lost in the crowd' feeling.

More important, however, is your commute and what you want in a neighborhood.

In NoVa the quality of the schools themselves (teachers, curriculum, activities, and facilities) is pretty uniform but the demographics vary.

Would love to help, but need information. Do you have a job that needs to consider commute time? What kind of area and activities are you looking for? Some sort of price range, SFH or townhome etc. Commute and price range are one of the biggest considerations when moving to this area.
Best of luck
