I am trying to chose between two apartments: Parc Dulles in Sterling and Wellington Place in Old Town Manassas. My office is located on Willard Rd in Chantilly and my work schedule is 7-3, with occasional travel out of Dulles and training a few times a year at Ft. Belvoir.

Which is the better daily commute to Chantilly, Sterling or Old Town Manassas?

so, you're actually going to Chantilly, NOT Reston?

It seems in either case, you will be using 28. I am not yet familiar with those traffic patterns, but we will be moving to the Fairfax/Chantilly border in 2 weeks and will be interested to see the feedback you get on this thread.

Centreville Rd from Manassas to Willard will be slower, there are multiple lights and its 2 lanes, instead of minimal lights and 3-4 lanes coming from Sterling.

However I do not think either one of those commutes will be bad.

I'd pick Sterling over Manassas. 28 has more lights coming in from Manassas than Sterling.

Sterling is at least 15 min closer. And a bit nicer IMO.

Sterling also has the advantage of a few side routes you can take if the 28 backs up. For example, if traffic got bad you could exit at Church/Waxpool and take Cascades Parkway (to the East) or Pacific Blvd. (to the West, and probably the fastest choice).

I live in Manassas....however, the commute would probably be a bit better for ya from Sterling. I just happen to like Manassas because....well, because that's why I chose to live here!

Thanks. I am leaning more toward Sterling. Now I have to decide between Parc Dulles and Remington at Dulles Town Center. The place at Remington has a loft and a balcony.
