Considering living in area from Belle Haven down to Fort Hunt areas. Is flooding, like basement flooding, a problem for areas close to GW Parkway and River? How much is flood insurance (estimated) for these areas?

Are bugs and mosquitos especially bad in this area because of water?

Thanks!

Don’t know about insurance, but this is where you can see Special Flood Hazard Area Maps-

Once you get South of Belleview most of the neighborhoods inland of the parkway are on ground too high for the river to be a problem. At that point it depends how your home is situated whether you'll get much basement flooding or not. If it happens it would generally be from rain or underground springs, not the river flooding.

Mosquitos around here are pretty horrendous.

Here is detailed information: Flood Map | T&ES | City of Alexandria, VA. There is a link to rates as well.

Due to the nearby marshes, yes, the mosquitos are bad. Mosquitos are quite prevalent in the entire area.

OK.

I thought it would be helpful to have the floodmaps for the area/neighborhoods bordering this part of Fairfax. I should have noted that in my earlier post.
