So what are your favorite used bookstores in Nova and where is it? I love going to used bookstores in search of books on art, architecture and especially fine art photography. Also some of them also carry used CD's and DVD's. Not interested in Harlequim romance novels and I've seen some "bookstores" if you can call 'em that, where they pretty much only have romance novels and a bunch a old books that even a self-respecting local library branch wouldn't want.

I'm visiting the DC/Alexandria area this labor weekend and would love to check out one or two good used bookstores. I don't mind going up and down the Highway 7 corridor all the way up to Leesburg.

Thanks.

I don't know how good it is, but I saw one this summer in the Manchester Lakes shopping center just off of Beulah.

Already Read on Duke in Alexandria is overpriced. They have some interesting stuff, but they charge, like, four or five times what you'd have to pay for it elsewhere (online or brick-and-mortar). Love the owner's cats, though.

theres a used book store in Old town Alex on King, I think, but its usually past closing time when we walk down there, so I cant really tell you how good it is.

If I wanted a used book fix I would head to DC and go to Second Story Books - Out-of-Print, Used and Rare Books in all Subjects

Another vote for McKays in Manassas. I love that place, and it's a great size so there is a wide variety of books.

I like the used book store at Lake Anne Plaza. Very mellow and charming--the sort of place you can spend a few hours in on a rainy day.

(sorry if this comes acrosss as a double-post; computer is crazy slow today.)

What about C&W Used Books, either in Chantilly (near the Lowe's) or the one in Woodbridge? It's small, but I always find something I want. (They do have a lot of romance novels, but they have other stuff, too. Big history section.) They, like other used-book shops, do trade-ins, so if you're driving and want to throw some no-longer-loved books in the trunk...

Have any of you been up to Wonder Book, in any of their locations (Gaithersburg, Hagerstown or Frederick)? I'm wondering (oops, no pun intended!) what that store is like. I always think that it'd be a good stop when I'm going to the Hagerstown outlets, but I'm always too tired to go there after shopping and the drive up...)
