Thanks for sharing the photos and videos everyone.

Two of my personal acquaintances had personal links to the locals that died during this event and for that I am truly sorry.

My heart is breaking over the boy and I cannot help but wonder, what on earth happened??
He was "playing in the backyard at 6 pm on Thursday evening"? It was pouring! Why would he have been out there??

Well, he was a boy. We all did such foolish things as youngsters, usually with no harm done. So sorry for his family and friends.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but the report says they reported him missing at 6 PM, so he probably went outside earlier. The rain seemed to start and stop a lot yesterday, so I'm guessing he went outside in one of those "dry" spells. But I'm just basing that on what I read - I really don't know. I don't know the family personally, although one of my friends does. Such a tragic, tragic death.

There were definitely dry spells. We had one from the time I left work (at 2:30) until about 6:00 PM. I know this because I left my house at 6:05 PM to attend my son's Back to School night and just as we left it started raining fairly hard. Within 15 minutes of that, it was a torrential downpour that lasted for 3 hours. So the boy could have been out prior to that when the weather was just fine.

We really don't have much experience in this area with flash flooding of the magnitude we had the other night. My heart goes out to the boy's family.

Yea we just closed on our home in fairfax station not even a month and a half ago, and we just plunked out over two thousand to get a water restoration company out because the basement was flooded. Apparently in the fifteen years the owners had the home, they said they haven't experienced anything like it. Very rough times for sure.
