Here's an update -- we're moving to Gainesville (Morris Farm) and looking foreward to it. I finally stopped by to visit the Manassas Mall -- surprised how big and full it was. Yes, it was majority hispanic in there, but frankly the folks seemed to have their act together better than the crudely pierced and tatooed (white) teens of central NH who poulate "our" mall back home. We are very excited about moving to the area -- thanks for all the input.

Congrats on the move. I also live in Morris Farm.
Manassas Mall is fine for a mall, but I'm not a big fan of malls anyway. Give me Leesburg Outlet stores instead. LOL.

Sorry folks, I have to jump in with some opinions about SJHS. All of my three children have graduated from SJHS in recent years. In my opinion, one of the best high schools in the country ( I am a former H.S. teacher and former college professor ). The AP and IB programs at SJHS are absolutely first-rate. And diversity is NOT a problem, because SJHS attracts the best students from all over the county, which means that whatever the race, most of the students are pretty good.
Of course I am biased, as two of my three kids were SJHS valedictorians and both accepted full scholarships to major, out-of-state universities, and both are now in Ph.D. programs with fully-paid fellowships. And the third has a M.Ed. and taught H.S. in PWC.
I don't know why so many people are selling in Manassas. But I can tell you why I left Manassas. It's called congestion and cost-of-living. The cost-of-living here in NC is quite modest, with comparable housing costing half or less than half, of NOVA. And the quality of life is pretty good. Most salaries are a little lower, but the cost-of-living is much lower. Traffic congestion here is defined as two cars passing through the same intersection 30 minutes apart. I don't miss NOVA at all.

I also want to put my two cents in about SJHS. I went there from 99-03 when I graduated. I graduated with the IB diploma, was accepted early decision into UVA along with 15 of my classmates and many of my peers from Osbourn and OP. I receieved my degree in 4 years and my best friend from SJ received hers in 3.5 years. So , we earn our degrees. It's not some "hidden" statistic as you claim it is. I'm sorry that you never met an SJ, OHS, or OPHS alum while you were at UVA. There might not have been 60 of us there but that's the appeal of UVA to some students.... we don't want to go to a high school reunion when we leave for college. And bels... are you Dillon, Dara, and Laurel's dad???

Gainesville is nice, have fun!! They are building some real nice up scale restaurants and shopping areas (they already have quite a few as well) as we speak. Manassas Mall can go either way, it all depends when you go. I've seen some pretty wild gang fights there a couple years ago but it seems to be getting better.

without knowing several keyfactors, coming up with a $$ amount for your package is somewhat difficult. What I can tell you is that you have many choices for housing. Let me know if you need addtional information.
Cheers!
