I haven't done my research yet, but some still have pickup locations in N.Va., correct?
What have been your experiences with them?
I know there's one that has a pickup spot on 15th St in DC (near McPherson Square), near where I work, but I don't want to drive in and leave my car in my office garage. And I think Union Station is the big pickup spot overall?

I've never done it but my friend did it in June. She used MegaBus and didn't have enough good things to say about it. She left from Union Station.

We love Vamoose. I've also heard good things about Megabus. BTW, these two threads have a lot of info you might find helpful.

Ever take a bus to NYC?

I'm so glad someone asked this question. I was too lazy to check where they left from and am delighted to see they leave from Union Station.

The last time I went to NYC on my own dime, I took Amtrak. Very expensive, and we stopped in a field, inexplicably, for over an hour. The next time I went to NYC (on someone else's dime), and on an Acela, no less, we stopped for nearly two hours in a field to take on stranded passengers heading Southbound. Their train had gone kaput. Amtrak is a far cry from its glory days (if there ever were any glory days); I would pay a premium if it were dependable, but unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience.

Anyway, thanks for good info.

I used Vamoose this summer (with my two kids) and it was great! The Vamoose schedule worked best for us at the time, but I have heard similar great things about Megabus.

If you take Vamoose, you can either take metro to the stop or park your car at the Kimpton Hotel across the street from the stop. Vamoose gives a parking discount at the hotel.

I've taken Vamoose out of Rosslyn. No major complaints except it would get really crowded. If you're willing to go into DC there are many more options: DC2NY, WashingtonDeluxe, Bolt Bus, etc.
