Default Areas where housing is surprisingly more affordable than NoVa

I know there are plenty of places that are more affordable, but I thought I'd start a thread on places that surprised you for being cheaper than NoVa.

I just got back from my grandparents' in Wimbeldon, south London. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 6 year old 3 story condo building, underground parking, bus at front door, 10 minutes walk to Tube/Rail, 25 minutes to Central London. They paid the approximate equivalent of $580,000 3 years ago.

Compared with condos with similar figures and amenities along Wilson Blvd., and considering that they are in what is otherwise a criminally-priced housing market in one of the greatest cities in the world, I'd say it is surprising.

um... this forum is about NOVA -- not other places

There are a TON of other places in the United States itself that are more affordable than Northern VA. There are a ton of places in Virginia that are more affordable.
