Hi, I'm looking for a good bagel on my way to work. I drive from Fort Hunt area using Beltway to Braddock Road going west.

Anything on Route 1 or Fort Hunt Rd? Or on Braddock west of the Beltway?

Alternatively, I might be willing to go up to Duke St and then west to Braddock if bagels are really good.

No Dunkin' Donuts!

There is an Einstein Brothers Bagel shop at the foot of the UPTO - just a block off Duke Street. Of course, this may be on par with Dunkin Donuts.

I went to yelp.com and keyed in Bagels in Alexandria. A couple of shops popped up along King Street.

Does it have to be bagels? Will Swiss pastry work instead?

The Swiss Bakery is just off Braddock Rd, take a left at the first traffic light (Port Royal Rd) going west after the Beltway. Yes, it is worth taking a detour for.
