Anthem comes up when I Google for Blue Cross in VA.

ehealthinsurance lists CareFirst when I entered a Fairfax county zipcode.

What is the difference between the two for someone living in NoVa (I dont live there yet)? If I were to apply for individual health insurance, is there a difference as to which one I would want to go with?

Thanks.

I believe they are different. I know with my old job I belonged to CareFirst. Then with my husband's job we were with Anthem.

I thought it had something to do with location: one of the plans covers the area east of Rt. 123 and the other covers the area west of 123.
That's all I know (and it might not even be right!)
Hopefully someone can clarify this...

Thanks. I entered zipcode as 20152 in ehealthinsurance, and it shows Anthem. (When I did my first post, I think I entered a Fairfax city zipcode which is CareFirst per the posts/maps above).

Based on my area of interest for potential move, I should be looking into Anthem.
