Why not take the short term stuff to tide you over until you can find a long term gig? It'll allow you to pad the resume...

I know, but to me honestly, adding a short term position to my resume doesn't really help. I'm still open to contracting, but I want it to be at least 5 months or longer. Since I'm still working part time now, this short term doesn't really fulfill my goals for the long term.

Here are my goals for the next tech writer position:

Technical Writer on a contract basis: 5 months or longer on a contract or contract-to-hire basis. The hourly pay that I want is between $30-$40 per hour. I expect to work around the usual 40 hours per week.

Technical Writer Permanent position: My salary expectation for a permanent tech writer position is between $55000-$70000. I expect to work between 40-45 hours per week.

Experiences: I have experience using Microsoft Office, Visio, Adobe, Dreamweaver, sharepoint, wiki, and robohelp.

Those are my goals for my next position. If neither company cannot match up my salary expectations or it requires me to work over 50-60 hours per week, I will not take the position. I know what salary and tech writer position that I want in the next role.
