So my girlfriend and I just moved to the Alexandria area not too long ago, and if you couldn't tell from my username here we are Penn State alums. I was incredibly excited to find that there was a Pittsburgh Steeler/PSU bar called Zig's that was also a Comedy Zone, supposedly located on Duke St in Alexandria.

However, I tried calling the phone number on their site and it's disconnected, and can't find any information on whether the place exists or not (their website hasn't been updated in a long while it seems). Can someone help me out? If it is closed, is there a date at which it will be open? The last update on their website was as of June '07, saying that they hoped to be open for Steeler season! I will be quite sad if it's never opening again...

Zig's is negotiating a new lease in Alexandria and hopefully will be open for Steeler Season. The regulatory hurdles could push opening back to late fall early winter.

The Comedy Zone is patiently awaiting our re-opening and we are committed to bringing you the best in live entertainment in the Northern Virginia area. The space we are looking at is a dream come true for us. More space then we could possibly use. We wish the Old Town Theater the best, but they insisted on becoming a movie theater.

We appreciate all the support and interest we have received since closing and look forward to seeing you this fall for our Grand Opening party. We will announce the signing of the lease by the end of August will send out our newsletter at that time.

Once again from everyone in the Zig's family, We Thank you.

Thanks,
Tom Kennedy

Zig's Bistro 4531 Duke Street Alexandria VA

Not to be a smart-a**, but I guess since Steeler season starts next weekend (Sept. 9) that it will be a while...I'm crossing my fingers for you guys!

If you need somewhere to go, check out Rhino Bar for Penn State and Pourhouse for Steelers (both in DC)

Brittany's is a great Steeler bar (it's in Dale City/Woodbridge) - we go there (live in Alexandria currently) - Zig's wasn't so great because it was so small. You missed the days of Cool Hands (Arlington) - now that was a GREAT Steeler bar.

Back to Brittany's, there is a whole separate room in the back/side for Steeler folks - let me know if you want the address.

GO STEELERS!
