I've been looking for a reasonable place to buy fresh COD or Haddock.
I won't buy Previously Frozen fish as it just ruins the flavor.

The Safeway on Nutley St in Fairfax has had fresh COD for $9.99lb whenever
I get down that way but the traffic is just nuts to get out there from
where I am in Chantilly near the 28. $9.99lb for FRESH COD I can handle.

So I am wondering if anyone know of any places that sell fresh COD or
Haddock at a reasonable price. The only other place I have found fresh
COD is at Wegmans and the $18.99lb they charge is just ridiculous. They
didn't even have Haddock which is the better fish.. I can't image what they
would charge for Haddock.

Anyone seen it fresh elsewhere?

Any Asian Markets/International Markets? I know there's a Grand Mart in Sterling. And I think there's one on Rte 50 around Sully?

We've purchased different types of fish (esp salmon) as well as shrimps and other seafood. And they're prices are usually much lower than other supermarkets.

Wegman's sells fresh (not frozen) fish at their counters. Just an FYI, cod is full of little red worms and I never eat it.

All fish generally have parasites. I'm surprised they didn't cut them out before they were sent on display.

Almost ALL seafood is "previously frozen" in the US...the freezing process kills the parasites that seafood does carry.....

That's why, in America, all "sushi" comes from previously frozen seafood.....it's healthier for you, especially if you're eating it raw!

The only way to get really fresh fish is to catch it yourself!

Nah.

I've eaten sushi at Tachibana, for example, that was still moving. And other sushi that was prepared in front of me that was moving just before it became sushi.

No frozen there!
