Oh, and the site is down as of an hour ago (I checked mine earlier--that's how I know my numbers).
I'm in W. Springfield and you both have me curious now. I'll check back once the site is back up.

There is something wrong with mine then... it says on that site that Springfield is up 1.28%. But mine is up a whole lot more than that. Then again, if the site is down and there are problems, maybe the numbers I saw were incorrect. Guess I will wait and see.

The site is back up. We're down about 3% in Alexandria. I guess it's okay since we've only been in the house a couple months.

The map is an aggregate. There is a lot of variation, even amongst neighbors. Mine is up 2%, but a house across the street with a similar layout is down 3 or 4%. What makes sense in a computer program doesn't always make sense to us.

One question for everybody, how is the assessment related to what you think you could sell for? Mine is a heck of a lot lower than the comps in my neighborhood. I would probably list for 15-20% higher than my assessment, and maybe settle for 10-12% higher. Not that I'm complaining, I'm not selling and don't want to pay the extra tax.

It's only worth what one would pay for it. Be happy that your assesment is lowest as possible. I think the demise of Fairfax County is its tax rate.
