I want to surprise my gf with a weekend get away for her birthday this weekend. What are some good options for cabin rentals in the area?

We are new to the area so I don;t quite know where to look. I am just looking for a place to relax, see some good scenery, and relax some more for the weekend that's less than 2 hours away.

My thought is head west toward Front Royal? I would love to find something on/near water!

I appreciate the help!

This may be closer in than you'd like, but Algonkian Regional Park in Sterling (Potomac Falls) has cabins for rent overlooking the Potomac.

I can second this recommendation! The cabins are very nice, right on the river, very relaxing.

The cabins at Algonquin Park are great. But outside of the park, you'd be in the suburbs (not much of a scenic view).

Try this: Candy Hill Campground,Winchester, VA:
Candy Hill Campground

You'll be in the Shenandoah Valley (just a little north of Front Royal) and check the events/activities in the area. Skyline Caverns are nearby and there are historic houses, wineries, etc. Have fun!

For something entirely different, as in definitely not a cabin, but relaxing, affordable in the off season and by the water are the Victorian oceanfront hotels in Cape May, NJ. Historic Hotels in Cape May, Victorian Hotels in New Jersey, Oldest Hotels in Cape May | CapeMay.com
