DH and I are looking to store some small household items. In researching some facilities in the West Springfield and Burke area, we came across Extra Space Storage off the FFX Parkway near 123. Does anyone have any experience using this facility? I searched some earlier threads on this topic and found some references to a unit in Fairfax City, but we'd prefer something closer to home.

Any help is much appreciated.

Never used that location, but we've used Extra Space in Arlington and thought it was great. They often have a deal going where the first month is free. This one was all indoors, which we liked.

I have to say they're very honest; we moved our stuff out before our billing cycle was over, and they sent us a check for the prorated refund without our having to ask.

I do. Had a space there for a few months. Very clean but a bit pricey IMO.

Read the contract terms carefully before you sign. IIRC there was something my husband really did not like.

Thank you both for your responses. This has helped us narrow our decision.

If the value of the items you're going to store are less than the storage costs, get rid of them and buy them anew if and when you need them. Silly to pay big $$ for items you could replace for less!

Outside of extaspace storage, can anyone recommend storage facilities off of the 95 corridor that are gated, inexpensive and take CC?

It's a little further out, but I've used EZ Storage in both their Woodbridge and Dale City locations. It's very secure and both locations are nice facilities. You can check out the prices on their website.

I'm not finding prices on the website. How much does it cost to rent a storage unit?

There's a range based on size, whether it's climate controlled, upstairs/downstairs, etc. We looked into it when we were moving, and for the most part they range in price from $100 to $200 per month.
