I will be working in Rosslyn and my S.O is working in DC right by metro center. We want to be able to take the Metro to work.

Which area would be our best bet? We are looking to rent for now, just so we can get used to the area and not commit so heavily by owning a home.
We are looking for a nice apartment that is close to the metro (within walking distance).
We have 2 cars and a small 12 lb dog.
We've been looking around Arlington (Courthouse/Clarendon area) but haven't found much that meets our needs. Any suggestions?
A lot of the bigger apartments charges a 500 dollar non-ref. deposit and an extra 50 dollars a month for "pet rent" and then another 75-100 dollars a month for an extra parking space on top of the $1500 (min) rent that is to be paid. And then lots of other places don't even accept pets. My pup is actually very clean and really good. She is housetrained and very friendly. She would never make a mess nor bark for that matter.
Is this the norm? Is there nothing else more affordable in this area?

Thanks in advance for all of your advice/input! I really appreciate it!!
