I-95, the road that's so good, VDOT had to divert it around their headquarters in Richmond (paid for primarily by taxes collected upon NOVA residents mind you)

Interstate-Guide: Interstate 295 Virginia

I would feel bad for people who live in Fredericksburg, except they always tell me how great their lives are in their 5 bedroom houses that cost 250,000... atleast the smart ones use VRE.

Why 95 isn't three lanes each way is a mystery. Even louisville to frankfort,ky has three lanes but one of the country's main arteries is stuck at two.

Where are you talking about where 95 is only 2 lanes?

Ok. Anyone know why this site is screwing with some of the words? It turned NOVA into NOV*** and sailing into sailin***.

I-95 is 4 lanes (2 each direction) from the NC border to I-295. It turns to 6 lanes from I-295 to Dumfries where the HOV picks up and add another two lanes in the direction based on the time of the day.

An additional lane is added from VA 123 to Fairfax County Parkway (6 miles)

Right, it seemed the guy who was complaining was doing so in the context of traffic from NoVa down to/through Fredricksburg. 2-lane south of Petersburg has no affect on that situation.

Hmm...I was just in that area, and I drove up I-95 from Richmond to DC....and then later again from DC to Richmond and back to DC.

All three times on that road, the traffic was horrible all the way up and all the way back. F'Burg didn't make any difference. DOn't know if its because its December? But I was on that road on a Sunday night (going up it), and then up and down it on a Tuesday afternoon down, and a Tuesday night back up.

One thing I did notice though was that with all the traffic that comes on or off the right lane, it seemed that the large trucks stayed in the center lanes. So it created this people flying past on all sides of you, if you were in the middle lane. It just seemed like a mess in general. Way too many people driving way too fast. I don't understand why people pass in and out of crowded traffic, when how much time can you possibly save by trying to weave in and out and around everyone?
