I am looking for food or gift ideas that one could only find in Northern Virginia.

As an example where we used to live there was a woman who made delicious cookies and other goodies. They were unique and obviously not available on the corner in everyone's town. They worked wonderfully as gifts, (and could even be mailed), without "breaking the bank". I would love to find something like that here.

Thank you for any ideas.

Williamsburg Peanut Shop. We send their stuff out as gifts all the time, with rave reviews.

The Mount Vernon gift shop has all sorts of unique things. It's just outside the gates so you don't have to buy a tour ticket to shop there.

Very Virginia is a store in Leesburg's downtown. I'd recommend that. OTOH, as the name implies, it's a good deal of "all-Virginia" merchandise so it might not work for you.

Thank you all very much for the suggestions. I will check out each of them. I was hoping to find something that people couldn't just go on line and order for themselves, so that it would be more unique. Of course I guess even the little Mom and Pop shops are on line now a days. :-)
