if I get impatient waiting for a shuttle, can I walk to the airport? How far a hump is that?

You could. But realistically? Haha. No.

I think the longest I've ever waited for a shuttle is 5-7 minutes.

Where is the OP coming from? Where do you live? what time are your flights?

Not trying to be creepy, but I could suggest some parking and public transit much better if I knew.

I've waited almost 30 minutes for a shuttle and ended up missing my flight once. I won't park in the economy lots anymore. For short trips, I'll do daily; for longer trips, I park on the street in Herndon and cab it to the airport.

I hope other factors came into play with this case. If not it sounds like you did not give yourself enough time to get plane side. But 30 minutes surprises me.

did you all see about that accident that shut down the dulles access road yesterday morning that involved a supershuttle? What's been your experience with supershuttle? Last time I rode one, the driver was this african dude who seemed like he was having a bad day, he wasn't very friendly and I was afraid to ask him a question because every time I asked him something, he would bark out some kind of incoherent angry answer. And the trip itself was kinda weird, he was fumbling around with his cellphone and GPS and lots of times we'd be like veering out of our lane. Good thing it was late at night and there weren't too many people on the road. Maybe these are just the late night drivers, maybe the daytime drivers are better, I dunno.
