I went to a local Dunkin Donuts the other day and was really disapppointed - it just didn't have the size/quality I was looking for and expected from ancient fond memories.

In fact, Shopper's Food Warehouse consistenly has the best donuts around.

I remember the old stand-alone Dunkin' Donuts; you'll still find a handful throughout the Deep South. The newer DnD's are now combo shops with Baskin-Robins, which I have to admit is pretty awesome.

This is how I've felt for awhile, on both counts.

A couple years ago you could get those colossal donuts at SFW for only 50 cents - I think they've gone up. Still, they were like 60% the cost of DD, twice as big, and 4 times as good.

I think DD made a change to ingredients or something years back that really lowered the quality.

Alexandria has had three DD outlets open for years. I'm surprised it took so long to open one in Reston.

There is a Dunkin Donuts just on the other side of Fairfax County Parkway from the Target in Reston. I would guess that it might technically be a Herndon address, but it's close. It is a tiny store, though.

Wait... people buy things other than coffee at DD?

Sorry, I am a big fan of their coffee. I am not a big fan of doughnuts though (anyone's doughnuts). Anyway, congrats Reston!

I'm sorry but I won't be impressed until they open a 24-hour Krispy Kreme on this side of Fairfax County!
