Far from a big city? According to SU's website, the Winchester campus is nearby to the bustling activity of three metro areas -- Baltimore, Washington, and....Northern Virginia.

It's far when you consider the purpose of this school is to teach tai chi. The average person who lives in Baltimore, DC or the highly populated parts of northern VA is not likely to drive the 3-4+ hours to Winchester to take a tai chi class. Even if it is the highly acclaimed Yang Institute.

Maybe SU's attempt to rebrand its remoteness was some sort of stretch or something.

Yeah, something like that. :-) We're now marketing our outdoorsy-ness. :-) taking advantage of the great natural resources we have in this area. We are only 35-40 minutes from Leesburg, but that's not really northern VA. It's a good haul into Fairfax, Vienna, DC, or Baltimore. A good say trip, but not a quick jaunt.
