I was actually just looking at City Center before I took a look at the post. That place doesn't look too bad... you like it there? Safe area?

I'm not really too concerned with the surrounding area as long as I'm not in the main part of town off of 234 and the price is right. It will just be a place to park ourselves for a year till we can work up enough for our down payment.

I looked at manassas when buying a condo because my realtor talked me into it. The place I looked at in the Bull Run area was a big 2 story condo and was only $130k but the area was "eh" I really dont know how else to decribe it. I felt safe walking around and all but it didnt have that feeling Ashburn has. Maybe its just in my head.

No, its not in your head... most of Manassas is "meh". I do like the Wellington side of Manassas more though... away from 234. I am debating if I should consider Gainesville as well... I'm not sure how much extra time the commute would be from Gainesville.

28 to New Braddock to the FFX County Parkway is not ideal as 28 is usually pretty backed up, but taking 66 to the Parkway is awful. If you lived close to 29 North of the intersection of Linton Hall/Lee Highway, you could take 29 and cut over in Centreville to New Braddock. Depending on what time you leave, it could be an even swap. If you look at Gainesville, I would rec Parks at Piedmont or anything off Heathcote to be your best bet

For routes, I was looking more at back roads... like Lee Chapel to 123 to Henderson Rd to Old Yates Ford Rd to Prince William Parkway. And also I'll be traveling pretty early ... I work 7:30 to 3:30 ish.

My husband used that route in the evenings to avoid 66, but found it took just as long. Granted that was a number of years ago so I don't know what the commute is like now
