Here is an update for those who are interested, or people who may be making this commute in the future:

I've tried out my commute from DC to Reston and it is about 45-50 minutes one way. This evening it took me a little under 45 minutes to get home. It actually doesn't seem like that bad of a commute to me so far, I kind of enjoyed the ride. It could also be lighter traffic because it's the summer time? If there are any significant changes, I'll update this post again
