My husband and I live in Hawaii, but we are moving to the DC area around June of 2008. I would like to see if I could get some questions answered:

What is the commute (car) from Woodbridge to DC?

What are the best area's in Southern Maryland based on schools and the median housing cost of $350,000?

Same question for Northern Virginia....

I lived in Dumfries for a year, two separate times, so I have a little bit of information, but things change. My husband and I are both young, just married and will be looking to have kids in a year or two, so schools are really important.

Thanks so much!

If you leave extremely early, you might be able to do the commute from Woodbridge to DC in an hour, or slightly more. If you leave during any regular times, it can be long - 1.5 hours and up, each way. I'm basing this on the commute from Manassas on I-66; I'm not specifically familiar with the commute on I-95.

For Northern Virginia, you might try Bristow or Gainesville. 350K is good money in most markets in the U.S., but in DC doesn't get you very far. I think it is in the townhouse range, even pretty far out. However, there are some gorgeous townhouses out there ...
