Hello,

Anyone know what time the Springfield and Huntington Metro parking lots fill up?

Also, do they normally fill up on Fridays when less people go to work?

I not normally a metro rider but have to go into DC on Friday around 1pm and researching my options.

Thanks!

For the Huntington Station, the lower garage on Huntington Avenue is pretty packed by 9AM. There may be a few lingering spots available at the top of the garage. Otherwise, you are best to try your luck in the upper garages on North Kings Highway.

Hope that helps.

I'm not a regular metro rider either but most of the times that I've gone to the Springfield metro station, even in the middle of the day, I've found a parking place. The roof often has open spaces. You can also park at the Springfield mall and walk (lots of people do this). In fact, the only times I haven't been able to get a parking place at the metro parking garage have been in really bad weather when everyone who would normally walk from the mall decides to park in the metro lot instead.

Franconia-Springfield Metro fills up in the morning but by late morning spaces become available because people who just went in for a morning appointment have come back and left. There is also a section of reserved spots that open up to the public mid-morning, at 10:30, I think? So for a 1:00 pm appointment you'll be fine. Or you could go to Pentagon City Mall which has a parking garage and the Metro underneath the Mall. You wouldn't want to drive there in rush-hour traffic and the parking gets expensive if you're there the whole day but for a few hours mid-day it might be a good choice.

Over the past year, I've never seen Springfield parking deck completely full, even with the construction that sometimes closes a whole row. After 9:30-10 or so you will probably have to park on the top level, though.

Agree. I've never had a problem at Springfield.

I've gone to Huntington metro all times of day and always found parking in the main garage. I tend to go there between 9-10 am and between 12-1 pm. There's also the Kings Hwy garage if for some reason the first garage is full

Thanks for the information. I went to Springfield Metro yesterday (a day early) around 10:30am & didn't have any problems finding a spot.
