My neighborhood in Burke is suddenly covered in Romney signs as well. (And by that I mean maybe 8 Romney signs, one house that has plastered itself in Ron Paul lawn decorations, and no Obama)

That's funny. I've wondered if the signs could affect people's purchases. Works either way -- one party sign could be a turn-off to some, could be a turn-on to others.

In a similar way I wonder if those signs actually encourage people to vote for the opposing candidate. If someone likes candidate A and sees a lot of signs for candidate B, he/she might think "Hmmm, guess I better vote after all or that guy I don't like will win!" If you see signs for your own candidate, you might think "No need to stand in line, my guy's going to win anyway."

I've never quite understood the impact of political signs in general. I generally think they clutter the landscape and don't do anything to sway anyone.

But after seeing all the Romney signs in my neighborhood, I sure as heck needed an Obama sign to counter...or something. It was a mental thing.

In Leesburg -- it's more Obama inside Catoctin, more Romney outside Catoctin. Obama did get off to a later start in the house sign wars, though.

I counted on my way home yesterday - I got 5 Obama and 13 Romney. I live in Fairfax (really Burke though).

I've noticed there are usually multiple signs:

Obama
Kaine
(Insert winning House candidate)

Romney
Allen
(Insert losing House candidate)
Kill Big Bird

Watson Road from Evergreen Mill (Leesburg) to Rt 50 (Aldie) - about 5 miles long.

7 houses supporting Romney
1 house supporting Obama
1 house who is a huge, huge supporter of the Redskins
