All will be lost :-(

I sure wish someone important lived in the neighborhood.

Dom. VA still won't let you talk to a human or tell us when restoration of service is expected.

I lost power for nearly three days earlier this year during the big storm and only opened the fridge a couple of times and never opened the freezer. To be honest when the power came back on I let the stuff in the freezer (mostly meat) refreeze and still ate it and I'm just fine. Some stuff in the fridge (milk, ice cream) didn't make it, but I kept all my condiments, fruit, cheese, etc. I understand if you think that's gross or unsanitary, but it saved me a lot of money...If you don't open the freezer there should be very little bacteria in there to spoil your food, but if you pour a bunch of store ice that is covered in bacteria and in there kiss the meat goodbye.

Why would everything be lost? Food can keep in a freezer for a few days, and most of the contents of a refrigerator too.

Still no power. From the chart, it appears we will be among the last (175k at the beginning, 18k now) to get it restored. Still no ETR.

Just be thankful it's not 100 degrees like the last time. I wouldn't worry about your food. I just had to toss some milk and leftovers after the last multi-day ordeal. Don't open your freezer.

Sorry to hear that! But indeed, stuff will keep in the freezer for a while.

If it's ice cream, I would go ahead and just eat it half-melted. Still very tasty.

Hope you get power back soon.

So frustrating! During July's derecho I lost $300 worth of food but was able to get $150 from my condo insurance policy. Hopefully your plan offers a similar (or better) payout.

Dominion Interactive Outage Viewer-

Appears that you need to zoom in until you can click on the dot near you to see the estimated restoration time.

Also, I’d probably get some ice from the grocery store.

Thanks--already put ice in both the refrig and freezer. DV now says 5-midnight--despite their knowing there is a downed power line. Too bad Cong. Moran doesn't live in the neighborhood, and maybe we could at least be somewhere other than the bottom 3% of restoration priorities.

Re: insurance, unfortunately, we have a high deductible policy because ins. cos. love to raise your rates or not renew you if you file claims. So we'll just lose whatever we lose. It's just such a hassle not to have power for so long for so many things.
