Just moved to Mclean Va for work and noticed that there is not alot to do for singles in the area. I have
tried to find cooking classes but you need to know your own people to bring to the class. lolol

can anyone suggest any activities for single people near the McLean Area. There is a tone of stuff in DC but there is no way I can make it to DC after work.

I like cooking classes and fitness classes. Everything seems to be in DC or going towards Alexandria/Arlington area.

Help

Check out Fairfax county park authority as they regularly have classes. The one near you is probally Spring Hill.
Mclean is high end suburb so thats probably why you dont see young singles. (assumig you are young.) Check out Vienna, falls church, Merrifield area as more y oung singles moving in.

The McLean Community Center has cooking and fitness classes, but (1) there won't necessarily be a lot of young singles signed up and (2) if you live in the Tysons part of McLean, you'd have to pay a higher non-resident fee, because residents in that part of McLean aren't part of the special tax assessment district that subsidizes the community center.

I think the suggestion of looking at the Park Authority offerings is also good. FCPS also offers adult education classes, including culinary and foreign language classes. Some of those classes (or at least the foreign language classes) are held at McLean HS and Marshall HS, both are which are near Tysons. Others may be further away, but still in Fairfax County.

Here's the link to Parktakes Parktakes Online*- Fairfax County, Virginia. Fitness classes are there, and most likely as said, Spring Hill is closest to you.

If you're interested in culinary check out programs through FCPS Adult Ed, ACE: Enrichment. Only thing is the locations may not be good for you but you can do it solo.

How about "events and adventures" - I always hear the radio ads and sounds like a good concept

Theres always the nice wine lounges around McLean/Vienna/Arlington. I like Evo Bistro and Allegria. Beyond that, Great Falls, Alexandria, Georgetown, DC general, etc. McLean is a suburb, but as far as suburbs go its adjacent to some decent options for you to get out and meet people.

There is a cooking school in Vienna that I have heard good things about. Probably not cheap though. Culinaria Cooking School » Culinaria Cooking School

Also, if you are in the Tysons area, then the Vienna Community Center might have some classes that wouldn't be too far: http://www.viennava.gov/ArchiveCente...File/Item/1331
