I am taking a job at the pentagon and need a place to stay for 30 to 60 days until we can determine if we want to buy or rent long term. we are not provided moving benefits or temporary lodging so cost is a consideration. could be an extended stay hotel or a sublet or an apartment.

Are you sure you want to limit yourself to proximity to metro? There are several localities that have alternate commuting options (such as buses) that may be cheaper than they areas you are looking. Just a thought.
