My husband and I are heading to see his parents in Michigan next week. I'd like to take a gift of food that's representative of the area. Since my father-in-law is a recovering alcoholic, I can't take any wine. Any suggestions? Thanks!

All I can think of is Virginia peanuts (really good if you haven't had them, I forget how they are cooked but they have little blisters are are really crunchy), there are also some good Va. cheeses.

Papusas and tamales but they don't travel all that well.

Shenandoah Apple Candy. You can find this locally in some shops, Check out Google sellers as Terms of Use forbid City Data posters to recommend specific retailers.

I found wonderful regional stuff available through Tamarak which showcases WVA goods. More or less same thing. Check out Tamarack - The Best of West Virginia.

Thank you everyone!
We ended up not going because my husband is on alert for deployment to aid with Sandy recovery, but you've given me great ideas for Christmas. Thanks again.
