Commute from Warrenton to Chantilly
How is the commute from Warrenton to Chantilly? Just got a job in Chantilly and I start in March. Wife, kids and I are looking to relocate from a small town in upstate NY, and want to find something like here.

You are probably looking at a 1 hour commute each way, depending on what time you are traveling. My opinion is that Warrenton is very much worth the drive.

It will depend on where in Warrenton you live. It's a pretty large town, so the commute times can be significantly longer in the western half. I agree with Poohki though, Warrenton is a great town. It still has the small town feel, but has the conveniences of the other, closer-in Northern Virginia towns.

real estate
David,
I notice you are a real estate agent. My wife is a teacher and she and the kids aren't going to come down till june. We are thinking about renting a house from when I come down until we find out where she can get a job. What do you think?

Depends on what time you go in. I'm starting a job where i have to go to Chantilly from Culpeper for a month for training, then Culpeper to DC after that (not looking forward to it). My hours are on the nightshift so it only takes about an hour for me from Culpeper. It should take you between 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.

Unless you find a house that you absolutely can't pass up, I think that is probably a very good idea. It will give you an opportunity to test out an area and see if it really is what you're looking for.

Is anyone familiar with the commute from Warrenton to Springfield? I am looking at a position in Springfield and prefer to live in a place like Warrenton.
Thanks!

I renovated a school in springfield about 3 years ago. I live in Orlean, which is about 10 minutes outside of warrenton. It took me a bit over an hour, maybe hour and 15 minutes?? Getting through gainesville is the worst.
For the 1st poster, my wife works in Centreville. Takes her on average 1 hour to get home and 50-55 minutes in the morning. This is leaving at 5:45am. Warrenton is a great town, you will like it.
