Hello all Northern Virginia folks!

We are contemplating a move from Dallas, TX to Northern Virginia.

We used to live in Leesburg and really enjoyed it but my job took us to Texas.

I will be working out of Dulles airport and as such we are looking in Leesburg, Purceville and Hillsboro. I was in town today and drove out to the avove mentioned places. I found this really nice community in Hillsboro that I liked a lot, but after doing some research I have realized that there are really no schools in Hillsboro. According to the info I have, we would belong to Mountain View Elementary, Harmony Middle and Woodgrove High schools. The area of Hillsboro that we are looking at would be up to 10 miles to school, that is a bit far.

So, to my questions:

1) For those of you with kids attending the above mentioned schools, are you fairly happy there with student to teacher ratios, quality of teachers etc?

2) Does any of you good people know whether there are any new schools planned for the Hillsboro area, or at least a bit closer than the current situation?

3) It seems that most shopping needs to be done in Purceville when living in Hillsboro, is that correct?

Thank you for any info. that can be offered.

Hillsboro does have an elementary school. Here is a link to the boundary map:

Mountain View Elementary serves Purcellville. I think you would be happy with any of the schools in Western Loudoun. Purcellville is the shopping hub for this part of the county. You can research the county school planning here:

Planning & Legislative Services / Overview

There has been a lot of discussion about building more schools in Western Loudoun. I'm not sure where the process is at right now.
