daughter relocating to Vienna
My daughter is relocating with her boyfriend to VA from Los Angeles for work. They are looking to rent a 1 bedroom apt. in a SAFE neighborhood with easy public transportation or commute to Vienna. They also want a fun area with nightlife for young adults. Any suggestions?? Also, What is the average cost to rent a 1 BR in this area?

Vienna is a VERY upscale rich area and I as far as I can see - all of it is safe. There are cheaper towns on the outskirts but I guess a one bedroom would run about $1,300 a month.
Correct me if I am wrong guys.

The Vienna mailing address is a lot bigger than the actual Town of Vienna. As it seems to be the job that is in Vienna, it may be that it is quite a distance from the primary transit points that serve the residential areas of the Town itself. Otherwise, <Fairfax Mom> is correct that Vienna is an upscale community, but it doesn't fit the stock-portfolio, trust-fund, country-club caricature at all. It's a rather down to earth little town where a good number of people happen to make more than the average amount of money. Some a good deal more, some not so much more. In any case, the entire area would fit the definition of 'safe', in that crime is so low as not to register on the radar, and $1300 would be a good ballpark for a decent 1-BR unit in the area. You could go higher if it fit the budget, but you wouldn''t have to. The larger question would be what areas you'd want to be looking at in order to be able to get to that Vienna job in a reasonable manner each morning. If you could post at least an approximate location, some pointers and suggestions on that score would be easier to come up with...

Thanks for the info. The job location is near the highway 123 and westwood country club. What are the commutes like around there?

There's a small industrial/office park on the northern end of vienna across route 123 from westwood country club. You can catch the Vienna-Merrifield-Dunn Loring bus line to get to work which is within one block of Follin Ln in Vienna. See the enclosed bus schedule link.

There are some old low-rise garden condos as you go into downtown Vienna for several blocks. They're located behind the strip shopping center with Giant supermarket in a very quiet residential area. There should be a lot of rental options at either of the two subway stations on the bus line.
