Did a policeman write the ticket or was this done by camera? You will argue they were wrong? You are sure it was yellow? You could go to court andhope the judge gives you a smaller fine than if you just paid in advance. I saw this done in several cases when I went to traffic court in Silver Spring once, but it's certainly no gurantee it would work out in your favor. In my case, the cop didn't show up (he had been injured in an accident), so my ticket was dismissed. If you go to court, I'd tell the truth and show remorse. Saying you had been texting might get your fine increased.

I've never heard this before. When I took drivers ed in Maryland I was taught that its not considered running a red light as long as your front bumper is past the stop line when the light turns red. I was taught that was how cameras judged it too.

I was involved in an accident in Loudon County and have to go to court in Leesburg in January for following too close. I don't know if any points are involved or not. I live in Baltimore County, Maryland and I have a Maryland license. I hear Virginia has a lot of crazy traffic laws, but much less crazy taxes.

Yeah, stuff like using turn signals and not rear-ending other cars. Crazy, insane laws!!
