Default rental requirements

I have a question that I would like answered. Will we be able to rent an apartment in NOVA before we have actual jobs in the area? I have no doubt that my husband and I will both get jobs....I am a teacher and he is an architect but we wanted to come down and explore options..... kind of take some time before we accepted job offers so we could be better able to take advantage of the best opportunity. I don't know if we could just move down and get someone to rent to us. Does anyone know?
Thanks for the info in advance.

Safi,

A quick way to put a landlord at ease is to pay a few months in advance while you're looking for a job. Be honest about your situation and provide references with contact information in re: your rental history before your future landlord has to ask.
