Trying to figure out drive times/when to commute. Will I hit traffic leaving Falls Church at 330pm heading on the 495 then 7 to Leesburg on a weekday? How about leaving Leesburg at 5:00pm heading to Falls Church on a weekday?
Thanks for your help...not sure when rush hour is in that area.

If you can get out at 330pm, you will usually miss the worst of the traffic. But you'd better leave at 330pm and not tarry much longer. Tysons will be tough due to the construction. You might find 267 to 28 to 7 a better ride though.

Heading from Leesburg to Falls Church @ 5pm? Not a problem except for the construction in Tysons

You may hit some slowdowns in Sterling on Route 7 West heading to Falls Church around the Sugarland area that time of day.

Good point, NOVAEER, by the time you hit Sterling you will possibly hit some slowdowns on Route 7.

slowdowns in the Sugarland/Sterling area heading east toward Falls Church or west toward Leesburg? How much time would this add to my trip?

Thanks for your help, everyone

Unfortunately, "rush hour" isn't all you're contending with. As mentioned, rt. 7 in Sterling heading east (Leesburg to Falls Church) gets pretty backed up due to current intersection road work. I see it bumper-to-bumper at lunch time and around 4pm, so I'd think it'd still be a slowdown around 5. I used to leave Merrifield around 3pm heading west on 7 to Sterling, and I would hit some traffic in Tysons (construction/road work, mostly), but it was pretty smooth after that.
