Roads looks crappy, maybe I'm crazy but I thought we would have gotten the word to leave early today.

I work at Belvoir and I was told "I won't look for you today". I am not sure if that means I can go home early or if my work sucks so bad that I won't be looked for if I end up missing.

No, I don't think so. From what I can tell, the precip is going to be mostly rain by 1PM and the temps are above freezing.

I'm going home early regardless (company decision.) I don't think the conditions merit early release.

I was in at 0430 and left at 1000 for personal reasons. There were 2 crashes on I 66 w/b between 123 and Manassas. Looked like both just happened as I was passing so there was no issues. But I'm sure that changed. So many people believe on days like today their driving abilities are better than the average person. Apparently it's not for some of them.

I was out recently. There's still some slush on the sidewalks, although the roads look just wet there are probably still some slippery spots - especially on less traveled roads.

The fear of precipitation around here never ceases to amaze me. I assume it's a product of so many drivers not being from the area originally so not knowing how to drive properly on wet or slick roads. I grew up in New England and would never expect to be let out early for the minor weather we've gotten here today, but I suppose it's all a matter of perspective. Getting let out early would be worse, IMO, since that would allow less time for sanding/salting. There should also be less of the usual traffic today (though I understand some travelers are heading home from Christmas) since a LOT of people have/take this whole week off between Christmas and New Year's.

^^^^^^^ I agree. I actually thought the over cautious drivers out there today were more dangerous than the roads.
