Here is an interesting article about increasing divorce rates in NoVA: We don’t like each other so much: End of recession in Northern Va. spells D-I-V-O-R-C-E for many - The State of NoVa - The Washington Post

I found the comparison of Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William particularly interesting.

Essentially Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun are comparatively stable with small increases. Meanwhile Alexandria experienced a dramatic increase in divorce through the recession while in Prince William the rate fell during the recession and started to climb significantly again (though still lower than that before the recession).

What demographic factors could account for such differences among the three groups of localities (Alexandria; Arlington-Fairfax-Loudoun; Prince William)?

What kind of people live in these areas? Young couples? Old Couples? Single?

Sometimes, race will play a factor as many ethnic families have a tendency to stay longer together, aside from the usual exceptions.
