I've noticed that there are a still a significant number of Romney-Ryan stickers gracing the bumpers of various of SUV's around Alexandria. Do the sticker owners realize they lost the election...?

I see stickers for all kinds of old political races. People forget about them, are too lazy to remove them, are proud of them, or can't get them off. I find it more strange that it actually bothers you enough to post about...

Personally I still have a RUTHERFORD B. HAYES '76 sticker on the back of my Otto Cycle.

You state this as though it's the first time it's ever happened. Many supporters of previous losing Presidential tickets have also kept stickers applied to their bumpers. I can recall within the past year even seeing an old Mondale/Ferraro sticker on a car. I swear!

As this topic can easily get sidetracked, let's remember to focus on the idea of political stickers in the NOVA area. General political discussion can be had on the Politics forum.

Keeping the above in mind will help maximize the life of this thread as well as minimize infractions.

I don't think that the criticism applies to just RR stickers, but rather all political stickers, signs, etc. I see stickers from elections more than four years ago all over the place on cars still. It is the equivalent of keeping a sign on your yard well after the election. I haven't seen any signs still up regardless in the area so people don't feel the need to still display those, and I feel like it is time for everyone to peel off their stickers and reattach the I am proud of my kid, my dog is the greatest, what city you are a fan of, etc.

If the reason people aren't peeling off the stickers yet is because they aren't easy to pull off, perhaps they should rethink about doing that the next time. One of my neighbors fully admits to not being so friendly on the road with anyone who has a certain political affiliation sticker on their car. Perhaps that explains all the other aggressive drivers in the area?

Moderator Cut

I used a magnet. Easier to take off than a sticker.

Leaving the stickers on is a way for people to share their political affiliation. Plenty of people still have Obama stickers on as well. Don't they know the election's over and he'll never run again? Are only the "winners" allowed to keep their stickers?

where are you seeing this? I haven't seen any to be honest, mostly Obama stickers. Although I saw one today that said "So how's that hope and change working out for ya?" and I was like, it's working out just fine...
