Can anyone tell me how long on foot it would take to walk from the Rosslyn metro to the park just at the start of the bridge?

Do you think this can this be done with little kids or are we better off driving and parking to walk over the bridge? Oh, would you mind offering driving directions? Is there an off ramp off of the GW pkwy? What would be the quickest way to get there driving from Rosslyn? Thanks!!

Do you mean the footbridge that goes from VA to the island? There is a parking area off of the GW parkway northbound.

If you mean the I-66 bridge, you can get to it from the Mount Vernon Trail. BTW, the railing on the bridge is fairly low (in case you don’t like heights)-

It's less than a 15 minute walk for a normal pace (under a mile for sure), not sure how much slower it would be with kids. All on sidewalks or the biking/walking trail. Walk north from the metro and get on the mt. vernon paved bike/walking trail near the intersection of lynn and lee highway (close to the key bridge). The mt. vernon trail goes right to the bridge over to the island. Depending on time of day, you should watch out that your kids stay on their side of the trail as it can get busy with cyclists.

If driving you can only get to the parking area for the island when headed north on the GW parkway as far as I know. It is a pain if you are in rosslyn as there is really no good way I know of doing it. You can take the Roosevelt bridge into DC, and then take the bridge back into virginia by taking the exit for independence right after crossing the bridge, then making a uturn at the bottom of the exit ramp and following the signs for 66 west back over the bridge, ending up on GW pkway northbound…

or take gw south from roselyn, and use the circle at arlington cemetery to get onto GW pkway northbound.
