We just bought a new house in loudoun county and would like to have a home inspection done but I'm not sure if we should just go with a traditional home inspector or get individual professionals separately to inspect the home - say get an electrician, a plumber and a structural engineer??

Maybe it sounds like an overkill for the structural engineer but this is going to be one of the biggest financial investments so I just don't like to leave it to chance. Plus since the home is a brand new construction, perhaps a structural engineer would be more qualified to address any structural/foundation issues if any??

What do you guys think?

A good home inspector will recommend you to get another professional in, such as a structural engineer, if he notices anything concerning outside of his scope of work to diagnose, like a major crack in the wall. Otherwise, get however many people in there in order for you to be comfortable with the purchase.
