Source: Outer Beltway Presentation 02-11-13

If this outer beltway is approved (or, it probably already is), what are the important timelines? I mean, when is it expected to be complete in Loudoun?

Something will be done in 50 years once Eastern Loudoun, southern Frederick, and northern MoCo are all built up. Think of how long it took the ICC to get build.

We live in Brambleton & I am hoping this freeway doesn't show up anytime soon but the presentation and related articles seem to indicate that the project is in full swing (hope I am misinterpreting it).

There is no project in full-swing, although as noted in the presentation it has been talked about for years. From a Brambelton perspective, you should note that Belmont Ridge will be widened both north and south of the existing 4 lane portion (south already under construction). This was originally going to be a 6 lane road, raising concerns that it becomes an "outer beltway", but I believe (and it has changed so many times, I could be incorrect) the current plan is a 4 lane road with a 6 lane right-of-way for future use if ever needed.

actually way back in the days (think 50s and 60s) they had an outer beltway proposal, of which i-15 runs a bit on it. but yeah, hindsight is a mofo and they shiuldve done that a long time ago.

I believe they've cleared the trees along the western side of Gum Spring Road.

I'd take that presentation with a grain of salt as it was prepared by the PEC.

An outer beltway should have been built years ago. The east-west traffic is heave partially because many people have to go east in order to go north.

But why should the Bi-County/Tri-County/whatever Parkway be a higher priority than fixing up Rt. 606, fixing 28/I-66, improving 7 and 50, or improving commuter roads that people actually well, are using now?
