See: LandRover 2.0

Ours went up just a little, and that's fine with me.

Mine is up 6.9%, which is a little much in my opinion. However, it looks like all of the neighbors' assessments went up about that much, too. I guess property values are recovering.

So, what is this assessment good for? I know it's used for calculating taxes, but beyond that...
My total PWC assessed value is still significantly lower than actual market value (by about $50k).

Well, the primary use is in calculating property taxes, as you mentioned. However, people often look at assessments (as well as the general trend) to evaluate the reasonableness of a listing price when buying and selling. To the degree that is the case, an owner should desire an assessment as low as possible until a year or two before he or she is looking to sell the property.

For me, the assessed value had been below actual market value since my wife and I purchased the house in 2010. However, I would say my current assessment is probably at or a thousand or two above market value. According to PWC, assessments are supposed to be set at market value, so I guess I shouldn't really complain too much.

Overall, the assessment on our house as gone up 37% since 2010, and I don't know that housing prices have recovered that much. However, compared to some neighboring counties, PWC property taxes aren't that high, so I'll just buck up and plan on an increase in our mortgage escrow again next year.

Actually the median price for western PW as gone up 47% since 2009. In live in Bristow and my assessment went up 11%. We did a refi in September and the new assessment is still 11% below market value.

I think the advertised tax rate is lower than last year, but my assessment went up nearly 16% so it looks like I'll be paying a higher property tax.

I live in Gainesville and my assessment only went up 0.25% this year. Makes up for it going up 8.2% last year which caused a huge increase in my 2012 real estate taxes.
