Yeah, they have the Red Checkmark alright, and 81% of 79 raters said they were superior overall. But they're in Hyattsville (301-699-2066), and even though they'll be happy to do moves in Alexandria, you'll end up paying a little premium for being that far away. Probably better, if possible, to go with someone closer to home...

I am a nomad, having moved within the city 3 times in 4 years. Last two times I used bookstore movers and cannot articulate how pleased I was with every level of their service. Go by their bookstore by eastern market and talk to them and you'll see just how nice they are.

We recently used JK Moving for our household move. Our move was paid for-so I am not sure of their prices-but after having moved 5 times in 6 years-they were clearly the best moving company we've had by far.

We used JK as well and they were excellent. Not the cheapest, I'm sure, but superior work.

This op is over 3 years old...seems like they might have moved by now. BUT since lots of people are moving around I thought I would chime in...we just did a local move, very local less than a mile. And used Two Marines and truck. They were great. We have lots and lots and lots of furniture, and they did one of the best wrapping and protection of my wooden furniture that we have ever had, and we are military so we move an average of every two years. It took almost 10 hours and the price was very reasonable.
