Hi, I was hoping for some help deciding what is the best way of transportation from Woodbridge, VA to Arlington, VA. Husband works in Arlington and we are looking at a new house in Woodbridge area. We are currently in Sterling, VA. He drives to a park and ride, which takes him to the metro, which takes him directly to his office. So his commute is currently about 1 hour 15 min or a little more. So he is ready for a commute and also for using public transport.

I was looking into it and was wondering if the best way would be to take the VRE to a metro connection. I hear some people complaining about the VRE system. Anyone have input on that? Anyone on here know of anyone who does this commute and how long it takes?

Any advice or input is appreciated.
Heidi

He gets to his work about 9 am right now. He leaves here in Sterling at about 7:45 am. It is a bit flexible though. He comes home about 5 pm. His office is right outside of metro station on Wilson Blvd. So he says he just walks out of station and across street. So metro takes him right there.

I'd probably take the 7:56AM train from Woodbridge to the King Street Metro. Get's there at 8:23. Then I'd hop on the Blue Line from King Street to Rosslyn which is about 15 minutes. In a perfect scenario, he'd arrive about 8:50. Doesn't leave much time for delays. The train before the 7:56 one is 7:11 which would get him there earlier.

I was just thinking about this. OmniRide is very popular in Woodbridge to points north.

Slug-line.org Tackett Mills on Old Bridge and Minneville has a Rosslyn drop point.
Riders stand in line for carpool ride up the HOV lanes. About a 40 minute trip to Pentagon. He can get a ride to ROsslyn metro but the wait for a car can be longer.
