I have a job interview in the coming days and I am trying to get a feel for the area. The area I'd possibly be working in would be Manassas and the pay is around 50k. It's hard to get a feel for apartments around the area especially since I'm not going to be able to spend too much time beforehand. I'm looking for just a nice, safe area, I don't really need any night life activities around.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it just you, or do you come with a spouse/kids/pets?

I know you stated the salary--but depending on what your other obligations are (student loans? Car payment? Massive credit card debt?) that might not be a good indication of your budget. Do you know about how much you will be able to spend on rent each month?

Sorry, it would be just me. I have a small car payment, only for a few more months, so I was hoping to find something within a 1200-1500 budget range. I'm not really sure if there is even anything that would fit in that category though.

If the most important thing to you is being near your job and you only need a 1BR apt then your budget will be more than enough. I'll leave it to others more knowledgeable to suggest specific apartment complexes or neighborhoods.

It might be easier for you to find places around Manassas and post them here. I know Prince William Co like the back of my hand but there are too many places to list. I would suggest staying away from Westgate, Coverstone and Irongate areas. Do some research and find what's affordable then come back and start naming them.

Chatsworth, TGM Sudley Crossing, and Ravens Crest are all in a good neighborhood and good locations convenient to everything.

There are a ton of apartment complexes in Manassas though.

Your biggest worry would be how far you work is from you apartment - traffic is horrible around here

I was actually looking at the Ravens Crest apartments awhile ago, are they close to any of the non-recommended areas (Irongate, Coverstone, Westgate)? What's nearby the apartments in the Bull Run area?

They are close but I wouldn't worry about that. The issues won't spill over from the neighborhoods.

I've read a lot about Gainesville/ Bristow too but I didn't see any apartment complexes in those areas. Am I missing something?
