$300 plus the cost of propane, attractant, cartridges, etc. Plus I'd have to have an ugly extension cord running across my yard. Plus I'd have to maintain it. "For optimal catch rate, you'll need to change the propane tank and attractant every 21 days."

Amazon reviews are lukewarm. Amazon.com: Mosquito Magnet MM4100 Patriot Mosquito Trap: Patio, Lawn & Garden

Doesn't seem worth it to me, if the companies spraying stuff are actually effective.

As I said, my friend swears by the Mosquito Squad coming in to spray.

Thank you. I think I'm going to call tomorrow. For <$400, it's worth trying. I'd like to enjoy being outside!

I used a service like that when we lived in Atlanta. The mosquitoes were so bad. It helped, but for the money paid, it didn't last very long at all. Spectracide® Triazicide® Insect Killer for Lawns & Landscapes Concentrate Triazicide was recommended to me by a neighbor last year and it worked great for more than just mosquitoes. My daughter and I are mosquito magnets and after using that last year and it being so successful, we are spraying it again tomorrow. We are using the bottle you attach to the hose because it is convenient and my husband applied it every couple of months as soon as it warmed up last year. It is great stuff. It just doesn't seem worth paying for a service like that when you get better results doing it on your own.

I am usually all for the home remedies, but I have tried everything, including what has been mentioned in this thread and it was far from effective.

You can get a mesquito spray at the store that's supposed to last for 6hrs or so that you spray on your grass. Aside from that I've found that I have to use bug repellant all the time. Also, Off makes some candles/lanterns that do a pretty good job so long as you plan on staying in a relatively small area.
