Hello - does anyone know if there has been any update on opening lake manassas for public use? Also, what is the other closest lake/river that one could kayak/canoe near gainesville?

Thanks!

I wish I had an update. From what I hear and read on the web, there is still turmoil with legal agreements on who can use the lake and why.

Take a read and the link below and notice the recent comments from last month. Even our local law enforcement is doing their diligence trying to enforce laws that aren't even clear to the Police department.

This is a real shame as a veteran angler of Lake Brittle and seeing the pressure that body of water received and what it does to the lake and the surrounding area. The past five or six years that lake (the closest one from Lake Manassas and a fraction of the size) has been riddled with trash and undesirables to keeping to a creel limit or breaking other local laws.

The sad part is my wife and I do a lot of fishing, camping, and hiking and we have to drive at least an hour to other locations to enjoy good fishing and serenity. Rapidan, Shenandoah, and Lake Orange are a few of our favorites within an hour distance from PWC.

Silver Lake in Haymarket. While not very big, it might suit your needs
