Single, airline pilot, starting new job which should have me Dulles based at the end of August. Will be looking for room rental situations in the Manassas area and I'm finding opportunities in my price range.

Ultimately what I'm looking for:
- Less than one hour drive to the Dulles Terminal
- Good Crossfit gym (never done it before, but looks cool)
- Good church (younger crowd, contemporary)
- Decent food shopping (Safeway, Costco)
- Easy ways to DC for day time adventures (VRE, etc)

I've been looking around on Google and the area seems to have what I need, I just wanted to ask around and see if there's anything about the area I'm missing, areas to avoid, etc. That said, I'm not necessarily the paranoid type when it comes to crime, etc. I'm realistic.

All thoughts, comments welcome.

To add to that, if anyone is looking for a roommate, room renter, etc who will be gone 15 days a month and has a budget of $500-600 a month let me know.

Zip code 20109 along Sudley Manor Road there are tons of apartments and condos and townhouses near everything.
Generally Sudley Road splits Manassas into a less wealthier part (the east side) and the more wealthier part (the west side).

I would also recommend looking into the Chantilly and Centreville area which has these same amenities while also being more geared to young people.

Good info but of course rent goes up in these locations. (Chantilly/Centreville) An hour is usually doable to Dulles from this area in Manassas unless something unusual happens. Of course if you go in during off hours it's much less than an hour. There are a few complexes I would not recommend to anyone in the Manassas area but just ask if you start looking instead of me listing them all.

Reston would make a lot more sense.

I hear you on Reston, and I've been scoping out the whole area. I've got family down in Charlottesville and I may be driving down once or twice a month.

I should only be driving to Dulles 3-4 times a month if it all works out. Ideally looking on the north end of Manassas - Centreville area, but I'm flexible.
